Superintendent

Dr. Lawson comes to us with 20+ years of experience. He has returned to Illinois from his previous role as Ames Community School District Superintendent of Schools in Ames, Iowa. In addition he has served as the Chief of Schools for Chicago Public Schools (CPS), a position he has held since 2018.

Dr. Lawson has also served in a variety of academic roles including teacher, assistant principal, principal and Deputy Chief of Schools. In addition, he has led future administrative leaders as an adjunct professor at National Louis University for doctoral candidates in the school administration leadership program. Dr. Lawson is a recipient of the Mayor Rahm Emmanuel’s Principal Achievement Award in 2012 and the 2021 Men of Excellence Award.
